The Great Ayesha Curry T-shirt War of 2022 Ends With ‘Ayesha Curry CAN Cook’ Shirts for Sale

There’s a meme on social media where people say “But I was told Steph Curry couldn’t shoot,” as if anyone in the world thinks perhaps the greatest perimeter shooter the NBA has ever seen couldn’t shoot.

Well, if a sign outside of a bar in Boston was to be believed, people were told Ayesha Curry couldn’t cook.

Steph, not wanting to let the Boston fans slander his restauranteur wife’s cooking during the NBA Finals, strolled into a press event with a T-shirt that said “Ayesha Curry CAN cook.”

The bar owner in Boston fired back by turning the sign into T-shirts and selling them for $20 a pop, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

But, now that the Warriors topped the Celtics in the NBA Finals, Steph has the last laugh, and “Ayesha Curry CAN Cook” shirts are available for people to buy.

Whether you’re a Dubs fan or just enjoy the saltiness of Bostonian tears (which, come on, we all do), this is a fun idea. There’s nothing to specify that it’s a Warriors shirt. But if you know, you know. It’s capitalizing on a meme that came about during one of the sports highlights of the year and involved one of the best-known sports personalities on the planet.

It’s a way to commemorate these specific NBA Finals without having to use a logo, or even reference either of the teams involved. Whether the meme is powerful enough to live on during future seasons is unclear, but it’s hot enough right now that people will want them.

The best part is that proceeds from the shirt, which is available online and at Ayesha Curry’s Sweet July storefront in Oakland, will benefit No Kid Hungry.

Oh, and to add a little more spite, Steph picked up one of those shirts from Boston to pose with next to the trophy.

Steph can shoot. Ayesha can cook. T-shirts can be used as tools of fan rivalry war.
